About the artwork:
My work explores the relationships between body and space, the processes by which they merge and emerge, investigating the lasting impressions they leave on each other. The relationships formed explore the transitions and transformations of human experience throughout life.
Inventing a unique work technique, I manipulate an autobiographical singular material of strings and use a repetitive set of simple actions to create installations. These installations are restricted only by the space they are given but look to infinity, they transform the architecture by altering the nature of the space and redefining it. Within these 'webs' of material, worlds of metaphor begin to emerge -- waterfalls, horses and cocoons. All relate to a mythological world. Likewise, everyday objects pertaining to a personal relationship with the body (chairs, tables, shoes) are introduced into this environment. The material treatment transforms them from mundane objects into psychologically charged objects that carry a sexual connotation.
In my recent project “Plasma” I merge installation and performance into a single event. For several hours, a model lays on the floor covered with one singular synthetic thread. In doing so, I redefine spaces in relation to the body and redefining the body as a space. “Plasma” creates metamorphoses and merges ends with beginnings, thereby establishing a close relationship between death and birth.
